These works in progress explore the energy of birch trunks against the warm color palette of Autumn. Many also delve into my recent obsession with coupling gold leaf (composition) or even archival (acid free) glitter with my acrylic paints.
I often use a white acrylic mixture begin the trunks.
Before starting I loosely mix in some colors to the white to keep it from looking too flat. I also use both a soft body and a heavy body white base to get a variance in texture.
I use a mixture of the primary colors in the painting instead of black.

I am also a fan of the glitter background of this one. Words cannot express how excited I am about this. There will certainly more glitter in upcoming projects.
Wow, these are beautiful! I am in awe of those of you with the ability to paint so wonderfully. (I had trouble with a peacock at one of those wine and design places!). 🙂
